As the company grew across the Midwest, they needed a central site for headquarters, manufacturing, and warehousing. Timeline: February 2020 to July 2020. H&H Mechanical Contractors completed the HVAC installation for Western’s new 324,181 sq. ft. facility in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

Scope of Work

H&H Mechanical Contractors provided and installed:

Our team provided and installed HVAC equipment and supporting systems for the office, production, and warehouse areas, including:

  • 4 Carrier VAV RTUs for office and production areas
  • Supply and return ductwork for RTU systems
  • 4 RTU roof curbs
  • Natural gas piping serving RTU units
  • 39 VAV boxes for zoned office airflow and temperature control
  • Carrier BACnet i-Vu control system for HVAC system controls across office and production
  • All associated ductwork and controls for the VAV system
  • 3 Cambridge heaters for the warehouse area
  • 6 PRV exhaust fans
  • 2 gas-fired unit heaters
  • 1 ductless split system serving the office IT room

Results

This project included completion and commissioning of a variable air volume (VAV) air distribution system to support zone-level airflow and temperature control across the facility.

VAV terminal units were installed with pressure-independent control dampers and airflow sensors, with duct connections sized per approved submittals and SMACNA standards. Ductwork was sealed, insulated, and supported to help maintain design static pressure and reduce air leakage.

Each VAV box was set up with design minimum and maximum airflow setpoints, then calibrated and balanced to the specified CFM. Zone sensors and control devices were installed, checked for accuracy, and integrated with the main equipment for coordinated operation. Final testing, adjusting, and balancing (TAB), along with functional performance testing, confirmed proper airflow modulation and stable temperature control throughout the facility.
