ABB Motion designs and produces drives, motors, generators, and digital powertrain solutions. ABB expanded its operations with a large campus totaling 529,000 sq. ft. Timeline: December 2022 to March 2023. H&H Mechanical Contractors completed HVAC and ventilation work for ABB’s South Building in New Berlin, Wisconsin, including rooftop heating units, a VAV rooftop unit for office areas, building pressure control, and HVLS fans.

Scope of Work

H&H Mechanical Contractors provided and installed:

    H&H Mechanical provided and installed the following systems for ABB's South Building:

    • 3 roof-mounted Cambridge units (2,200,000 BTU each)
    • 3 roof-mounted relief hoods with control dampers and actuators
    • 1 photohelic pressure control system
    • 1 Carrier 25-ton VAV RTU for the office area, with associated supply and return ductwork
    • 12 Macro Air Technologies 24-foot HVLS fans plus 1 wall-mounted controller to control all 12 fans
    • All necessary natural gas piping serving the Cambridge units and RTU
    • 9 VAV boxes with BACnet controls in the office area for zoning
    • All associated ductwork and controls for the VAV system
    • 1 ductless split system serving the office IT room

    Results

    The HVAC work was completed on schedule and met ABB's safety, quality, and operational standards. The installed systems supported improved temperature control, energy efficiency, and reliable performance for continuous industrial operations.

    The final scope helped maintain stable environmental conditions important to manufacturing processes, with balanced airflow and system performance aligned with design expectations. Final testing and commissioning confirmed safe operation and system readiness for ongoing use.
